In a collaboration with Jan Kubasiewicz, I programmed this application that generates visuals to accompany live musical performances. Two sets of triangles undulate, producing complex moiré effects as their angles, spacing, and velocity fluctuate in response to both aural qualities of the music as well as physical movements of the violinist playing the piece. An accelerometer worn on the performer’s arm wirelessly transmits spatial position data back to the system, enabling the performer to control the visual forms by literally leaning into the notes.
